The conversation brought out some key lessons that are worth repeating here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember64\">So if you&#039;re rethinking your commercial plan for 2026 (and you should be), this one&#039;s for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember65\">We&#039;re moving from \u201cheads in beds\u201d to \u201cRevenue per guest\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember66\">For decades, our industry has been obsessed with occupancy and ADR. But high occupancy doesn&#039;t always mean high profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember67\">In the SiteMinder interview, I pointed out a shift that&#039;s already underway: <strong>instead of maximizing room nights, we need to maximize total revenue per guest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember68\">That means asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are we offering relevant upsells at the right moment?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are we optimizing revenue touchpoints pre-, during, and post-stay?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are we measuring total guest value, not just their booking channel?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember70\">The guest is no longer a transaction. They&#039;re a relationship. And that relationship can grow over time if we manage it right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember71\">Tech helps, but strategy leads<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember72\">There are many brilliant tools out there, but they won&#039;t fix a broken strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember73\">A revenue management system won&#039;t deliver its full potential unless your internal culture supports <strong>cross-departmental collaboration<\/strong> and <strong>guest-centric thinking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember74\">Start by getting marketing, operations, and revenue in the same room. Literally. Map out the guest journey together. Identify friction points. Design offers that feel helpful, not pushy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember75\">In other words: <strong>make it easy for the guest to say yes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember76\">From silos to synergy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember77\">If there&#039;s one big takeaway from the interview, it&#039;s this: the future of hotel profitability isn&#039;t just about more bookings. It&#039;s about better integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember78\">We need fewer walls between teams, and more shared goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember79\">And that starts with rethinking how we measure, reward, and manage performance across the entire guest experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember80\"><em>Enjoying this kind of perspective?
