Alicante positions itself as a destination for remote work and digital nomads with its second international congress.

The 2nd International Conference on Remote Work and Digital Nomads is coming to Alicante. Already a global benchmark for remote professionals, Alicante is looking to consolidate that global position. Speakers such as Maya Middlemiss and Gonçalo Hall will share success stories and strategies for attracting international talent. There will also be discussions on smart cities, coworking, and coliving, with interventions by Antonio Peral and Marc Sanderson.

On November 19th, Alicante will host the 2nd International Conference "Alicante: A Destination for Remote Work and Digital Nomads" at the Puerta Ferrisa Auditorium, organized by the Local Economic and Social Development Agency of the Alicante City Council. The event aims to boost Alicante's position as a preferred destination for remote workers and digital nomads globally.

The Councilor for Employment and Development, Mari Carmen de España, explained that "Alicante is one of the main cities in the world chosen by digital nomads to work, as reflected in the latest surveys, so at Impulsalicante we are laying the necessary foundations to continue keeping the city at the forefront by promoting this forum where we will analyze the model and the steps we must take to remain one of the preferred destinations for digital nomads."

"That's why, among the initiatives proposed, Impulsalicante is promoting this event in collaboration with Fundeun, renewing its commitment to continue exploring new avenues to diversify the city's tourism and economic offerings, attracting international talent that contributes to the growth and modernization of the local business community," the councilor added.

The conference will bring together leading international experts who will share strategies and success stories to attract this growing community of professionals, whose lifestyles are transforming tourism and the global economy. During the morning, speakers will present various success stories, both national and international, and how public-private understanding and support have been key to these destinations leading the global statistics in this area, with the resulting benefits for the local economy.

The conference is aimed at municipal representatives, business owners, investors, and professionals in the service and technology sectors interested in learning about the opportunities offered by remote work and attracting digital nomads.

Second edition
This second edition of the conference will be moderated by Pablo Torres and will feature national and local stakeholders and companies in the sector, along with the University of Alicante. The aim is to continue positioning Alicante as a leading destination for remote professionals. All of this will be accompanied by a comprehensive offering and an analysis of current models, from nomadic models to coworking and coliving, as well as some of the success stories worth following and continuing.

The program is expected to feature national industry leaders such as Maya Middlemiss, founder of Remote Work Europe and advisor on the Remote Map (EU) project; Gonçalo Hall, CEO of NomadX; and Ana María Kochanska, founder of The Remote Impact, among others.

The institutional section includes a presentation by Antonio Peral, Councilor for Innovation at Alicante City Council, on "Alicante Smart City 2.0: AI to be more efficient and improve service to citizens." Marc Sanderson, Director of International Economic Development at Malaga City Council, will share his cities' experience in attracting both local and international talent.

The day will conclude with a roundtable featuring international success stories, featuring leading local players in the sector, including Javier Reina, CEO of Custom Suits; Daniel Elman, Vice President of APHA; Diana Carrasco, founder of Simple Social Hub, a coworking space; and Pedro Cruz of the AddValora Group, an example of a remote manager based in Alicante.
