TSA Solutions, a global leader in upsell solutions for the hotel industry, is organizing, together with Inturea, a tourism marketing and experiential branding agency, the roundtable "Restaurant I: The emergence of takeaway and delivery in the sector" as part of the Tourism Shock Plan initiative.

The fifth roundtable of the initiative, which began in March 2020 due to the pandemic, will take place next Thursday, February 4th, at 5:00 PM. The aim is to interview and discuss the current situation of the tourism sector and understand what actions and initiatives are being undertaken by companies, organizations, and institutions.

Palma de Mallorca, January 25, 2021 – Restaurants, both independent and hotel-owned, are suffering the consequences of COVID-19 and have become the hardest hit sector due to this pandemic. Since the health crisis began, generating income in the hotel industry, and especially in restaurant establishments, has become an obstacle.

This roundtable will provide a real-life look at the current situation and the challenges that shape the present and future of the emergence of takeaway and delivery in the restaurant sector. We'll hear from industry experts what measures are being implemented to enable informed decision-making in their establishments, and we'll answer questions with the help of experts in the field, discussing practical and straightforward topics.

That's why we've selected the most suitable executives in the sector to tell us how they've adapted to management, strategies, and products and services.

Home delivery

From before the coronavirus until now, home delivery, better known as takeaway, has increased significantly. The curfew, the closure of bars and restaurants, perimeter closures, and the new and ongoing restrictions the sector is experiencing have led to an increase in the number of new restaurants competing for customers' attention.

Home delivery is the only way to make money, so takeaway represents a new sales channel and, in many cases, the only way to sell.

Adapting hotels to delivery services

Delivery has become an essential pillar for activating and promoting the restaurant industry, one of the sectors most affected and damaged by the coronavirus health crisis.

Pablo Torres, a performance consultant at TSA Solutions, explains that the hotel industry has launched a new initiative to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, as they anticipate that occupancy rates will take a while to return to normal. The idea emerged in the United States, where urban hotels are converting themselves into private suites to accommodate small groups of people for lunch or dinner while complying with health measures.

This initiative can be formulated in two ways:

The hotel where these guests are meeting creates its own restaurant menu, or if it doesn't have its own, it can contact a prestigious one in the area. Offer the option of reserving a private room and having a delivery service deliver the food guests desire to their suite.
